16:9 Projection Screens!

Out with the Old and In with the New! 4:3 ( 4×3)  is coming to a close with the entrance of the sexy 16:9 (16×9) Widescreen projection. For years live events have been assembled with large 4:3 aspect ratio square looking screens that do not blend well with backdrops and staging. This was acceptable since most content was created in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Today content is being generated in 16:9 aspect ratioand 4:3 is simply fading into the past. This has caused a real push for manufacturers to provide TV’s and displays that display in a widescreen format however projectors have been slow to change. Projectors costing around $50,ooo.oo per unit have not been flying off the shelves and into live events mainly due to the costs. However as the shift from 4:3 to 16:9 stretches out we are starting to see the projector prices become more affordable thus creating more acceptable prices for the latest in cutting edge live events. Over the the past 5 years Alpine Audio Visual has been involved in the transition of 4:3 to 16:9 with the use of Christie Digitals True HD projectors. We have projected formats from 720p to 1920 x 1080p 444 uncompressed images with stunning results.…
